VIDEO LINK: THE AMERICAN INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
CLASS TRIP: COLD SPRING, NY
Lately, we have been discussing the urban/rural dichotomy. Many students are from large urban centers in their country. Now they are living in New York City. Cold Spring offered a chance to experience small town U.S.A. in an idyllic setting.
We met at Grand Central and caught the Metro North at 8:44. The train ride was pleasant and we remembered to sit on the left side (to get the best views). In about one and a half hours we arrived in beautiful Cold Spring on the Hudson River.
We walked to Dockside Park and I showed the students some examples of the Hudson River School of art.
Next, the students took two hours to explore Main Street.
We had lunch on the Hudson River.
Finally, we walked to Little Stony Point Park and took a nice hike.
We had fantastic weather. It was a very memorable experience.
